J Dilla – “Lightworks” [Video]

Off of J Dilla‘s Donuts “Lightworks” is a futuristic track and its video interpretation is treated in the same way. James McMillan‘s submission to Stones Throw’s video contest doesn’t flirt with the familiar live-action shenanigans either. Instead, we’re prescribed a cool, clean dose of cartoon animation which adds to the track’s light, otherworldly atmosphere. The coloring is reminiscent of those 1960s PSA videos or cartoon war reels. If you haven’t seen the other contest videos you should check them out.Where does this one stack up? Well, at this point I’d just close my eyes and ‘eeny, meeny, miny, moe’. They’re all good, this one, appropriate, creative and fun. Did anyone else peep J Dilla in the stars? Yeah, this one is good.
