I realize that J. Cole isn’t the typical artist we would post on Potholes. But I also realize — and you probably do, too — that we have highlighted several of his better cuts on here before. For example, Gedi wrote about when Cole spit over Kanye West’s “Devil In a New Dress” to create “Villematic“. And it was that song that led to the Fayetteville, N.C.-based rapper-producer to create Friday Night Lights. The mixtape, which serves as his first project since last year’s The Warm Up, features some strong guest verses from the likes of Wale and Drake, among others, while Cole handles the bulk of the production. I’m guessing this one won’t leave my rotation for at least a week, if not longer, but we’ll see.
