iTunes Reveals Most Purchased Albums and Singles of 2012

itunes-logoLike Spotify and Shazam before it, iTunes has rolled out its own year-end list because, well, we all love knowing the listening habits of everyone in the world, right? Probably not, if only because it’s kind of depressing. But maybe that’s just me being a hopeless miser, because in actuality not all of this stuff is completely terrible. Sure, One Direction makes my ears bleed and I would love to never, ever hear Fun. again. But still. [via]

Most purchased albums:
  1. Adele – 21 (Great, I guess)
  2. Taylor Swift – Red (Whatever)
  3. Mumford & Sons – Babel (Not terrible)
  4. One Direction – Up All Night (Boy bands still exist?)
  5. Fun. – Some Nights (Meh)
Most purchased singles:
  1. Carly Rae Jepsen – “Call Me Maybe” (Ugh)
  2. Gotye – “Somebody That I Used to Know” (Not that awful, really)
  3. Fun. “We Are Young” F. Janelle Monáe (At least Ms. Monáe’s getting paid?)
  4. Maroon 5 – “Payphone” F. Wiz Khalifa (Blah)
  5. Nicki Minaj – “Starships” (Puke)
