More Fiya! Hezekiah unleashed this single as a stream-only on his tumblr the other day, but now we get to download and do whatever the heck we want with it. “Fired Up!” features two of my favorite emcees, Talib Kweli and Bahamadia. Looking at this lineup, I was a tad skeptical. Talib has been lackluster as of late, let’s be honest. His raps sounds rather lazy and he just hasn’t been bringing it like he used to (see Reflection Eternal’s Revolutions Per Minute). This is where I have to give Hezekiah some major props. He somehow was able to ignite a flame under Talib to bring back that furious spitting that made us fall in love with the Black Star emcee in the first place. No complaints with Bahamadia and Hezekiah, though. They have been bringing it since day one. With that, we also get word that Hezekiah will be dropping his upcoming album, Conscious Porn, which should be available sometime this Fall. We can only hope Hez gets the exposure he deserves, as his past two releases were absolutely phenomenal, yet extremely slept on.
