We didn’t get around to reviewing Thundercat‘s sophomore album, Apocalypse, but that didn’t stop it from making our roundup of the year’s best albums so far. It also hasn’t stopped us from enjoying the project in every way possible, including hearing two of its best tracks performed live for BBC Radio 1. Thundercat recently hit up the legendary Maida Vale studios to tackle “Heartbreaks + Setbacks” and “Tron Song”, the latter of which is named after his cat. The only problem here is that it reminds me of how I haven’t seen Thundercat live yet. Blah, oh well, this will tide me over I suppose.
You can hear the session below or at BBC Radio 1. Apocalypse can be purchased on Amazon.
