Hear Eddie Murphy & Snoop Lion’s Reggae Single “Red Light”

snoop lion eddie murphyFor those that weren’t aware of Eddie Murphy’s attempts at creating music, you need to see hear his perfectly ’80s single “Party All The Time“. OK, now let’s fast forward nearly 30 years, to a time when Eddie’s been out of the limelight for a minute and Snoop Dogg’s made his turn as dub-loving singer-rapper Snoop Lion. Do you get where I’m going here?

Yes, Snoop and Eddie teamed up on a new single, “Red Light”, that is 100 percent serious. I promise. And I’m sorry. To be fair, this isn’t completely terrible but merely a reggae-by-numbers yawn fest driven by fake patois and entirely too many drugs.

You can watch the bootleg-as-hell video below. [via]

Sept. 4 Update: Well, well, well the song finally got a proper release! Listen to it below. LOL.

The fuxx does Eddie have on?

  2. okay, Eddie murphy may not be as multitalented as Jamie Foxx in music. but eddie murphy is still that dude no matter how many failed comebacks he has attempted.

My biggest complaint is that this is a bit hokey reggae kitsch. more power to Eddie and Snoop for joining forces and trying to make something pretty good. however, i always find that there is a fine line between good reggae and phony reggae

  3. still sounds stuck in the 80s. this is 80s cheesey pop fake reggae sound.

  4. Awesome song. Hopefully it charts well. He released the classic Party All The Time almost 30 years ago. Crazy song. Could be a surprise hit of the year.
