Hawthorne Headhunters — a quartet-turned-duo made up of Black Spade and Coultrain — has hip-hop, electro-soul, funky sensuality sounds and “If You Were My Baby” and “Teleport” give us a sense of their movement. Myriad of Now is slated to drop in 2012 and damn. ‘Damn’, because these tracks are too cool. These synthesizer laden, apropos lyrical touches and overdub vocals could remind you of Dam-Funk. They say, “It’s like electricity is all up in my skin,” when talking about their “baby,” though it’s true about their music too. Whoever they sound like, whatever they sound like, it’s odd, avant-garde and freshly made.
