Like plenty of other beat heads, I’m a sucker for dusty, retro-referencing shit that bangs, makes my speakers crackle, and relentlessly chops and flips samples. And that’s exactly what I’m hearing from relative newcomer Hanz, who hails from Augusta, Ga. He’s put together a pretty killer lil’ beat tape, The Distraction Tape, that showcases his love for gnarly surf rock and proto-punk while he lifts from some of his favorite records from the ’50s. It’s so covered in grit and grime that you might think you’ll need to clean out your speakers and sub while listening. Don’t. Just sit-back and embrace some ill lo-fi boom-bap. [via]
