Google Isn’t Cracking Down on Music Piracy, RIAA Says

piracy-tapeWhen that whole SOPA/PIPA thing went down last year, Google stepped forward and announced it would work on minimizing music piracy by making illegal downloads more difficult to find. But if you ask the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), that’s simply not the case. In a new report, the group outlines that finding illegal download links is just as easy ( if not easier) as before. Sometimes, they noted, it’s easier to find the illegal link compared to a proper means of purchasing a song or album.

Here’s the most damning part of it all, though you can read the report at AllThingsD.

“We have found no evidence that Google’s policy has had a demonstrable impact on demoting sites with large amounts of piracy.”

At the end of the day its all about money. Wouldn’t you rather just have people listen to your music no matter how they get it.
