With the exception of a few artists like Roots Manuva, The Streets, Dizzee Rascal, and Kano, I am relatively ignorant to the UK hip-hop scene. But almost every time I hear some music from across the pond, I become immediately hooked. The same goes for Ghostpoet, the latest artist on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings. Featuring four sweet tracks, The Sound Of Strangers gives us the opportunity to hear Ghostpoet over three original productions and A Tribe Called Question remix. What really caught my eye about this project though, was the fact that Micachu produced and is featured on “Morning”. For those of you unaware, Micachu is one of the most talented UK musicians doing it right now, putting out a unique blend of music on her own, as well as with her band Micachu & The Shapes. I urge you all to go and listen to Micachu’s album, Jewellery, it will not disappoint. Back to Ghostpoet, now. This guy has some awesome mic skills! Check out this EP and be sure to come back to let us know what you think.

As a proud Englishman, I am very happy with the music we are making right now.
Be sure to check out some West Yorkshire Hip Hop, because that scene is setting all the trends!
