The last time we featured a Ghibli project it was July, and the album was titled Pythia. This album is 2011, and it has nothing to do with Kubrick and features no HAL that discourages sidechaining or the use of various other VST plugins. 2011 is simply a collection of songs that were composed in 2011. And the music is a departure from what we heard five months ago. Several of the songs here can be described as disco-house but you also have a track like “Split A Phoenix Tear With Me” that incorporates one of the better Diddy-Dirty Money tracks, “Ass On The Floor”. But the track that stands out to me is “Shakur Baths,” which I hope is a subtle reference to the infamous photoshoot with 2Pac, because that would be a perfectly strange source of inspiration for a song title.
