Potholes Premiere: Fulgeance & DJ Scientist Connect For “Moscow Nightlife”

Crate diggers and producers, lend me your ears, for I have quite the treat for you in “Moscow Nightlife.” It’s the debut single from French producer Fulgeance and Berlin-based DJ Scientist, both of whom know there way around a sample. That much is evident on this brass and strings-fueled new tune, which also serves as the title track off their upcoming EP. Like “Moscow Nightlife,” the rest of the release is brimming with 1970s Soviet samples, and it serves as an introduction to a full-length album these two are cooking up for First Word Records.

Dubbed The Soviet Tape, the album is set to feature Potholes favorites like Blu and Open Mike Eagle, among others. While it doesn’t have a release date just yet, we can tell you this much: Moscow Nightlife drops Oct. 27 with three cuts from the duo. Mark your calendars, all you beat junkies out there, because this is shaping up to be a damn-fine addition to your collection. You already knew that, though, if you skipped this text and just hit play on the “Moscow Nightlife” embed. Hey, I don’t blame you. With artwork and a title like that, I’d be scrolling down to listen immediately, too.

You can hear “Moscow Nightlife” below.

If your point is, that in Hip Hop samples are to be used just once, you are right 🙂 Most people reading this blog probably noticed instantly too. I like it and hope it’s not the last step someone takes on this sample!

Yawn! Alchemist already used this sample for HIS Russian themed “Russian Roulette” album, which came out years ago. The sample is on a dope song called “Flight Confirmation”, featuring Danny Brown and Schoolboy Q. There’s a music video for it, too.
