Freddie Gibbs and Madlib’s Collaborative Album Has A Crazy Guest Lineup

Madlib Freddie GibbsEarlier this morning we posted the latest single from MadGibbs, the duo of Madlib and Freddie Gibbs, in “City“. But it appears that the track isn’t the only bit of news coming from the blunt-loving tag team. Pitchfork also revealed a ridiculous list of collaborators set to appear on their full-length debut, Piñata. Yes, they dropped the Cocaine from the title, which makes sense I guess. Anyway, here’s everyone who will be heard alongside Gibbs and Madlib:

Raekwon, Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown, Domo Genesis, Joey Bada$$, Ab-Soul, BJ the Chicago Kid, Meech of Flatbush Zombies, Casey Veggies, Mac Miller, Polyester the Saint, and G-Wiz.

I think my brain just exploded. Yeah, it did.

I was hoping this was going to be a straight up Madlib/Gibbs creation without all the filler – I could do without out Mac Miller, that cat is softer than a Pop Tart eating a Gogurt. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Gibbs only sounds good over Madlib…

  4. Great news. Freddie is a boss, but his album was really generic – the guests were forgettable and the beats were boring. Don’t get me wrong here – it wasn’t terrible and the potholes crew had it right with 3.5 (I personally would have given it a strong 3) but it Freddie over Madlib beats is something different. The guest lineup is also crazy and it can definitely make Freddie’s music more interesting.
