Frank Ocean – “Pyramids” (FauXed ‘N Throwed)

There are few things worse than when a CD starts skipping in your player. Somehow, Potholes Music’s Javis FauX has taken the intolerable and made it actually sound pretty damn awesome. Taking to Frank Ocean’s “Pyramids“, Javis tears apart the original melodies and instrumentation and puts a new spin on things. While there isn’t much new production, the skipping and chopping of the Ocean original somehow turns out sounding unique. For example, expect to hear erroneous crackles in the record just as you are about to sing along with the hook. It doesn’t quite sound like any of the dirty slaps of the south, just a fun little trick Mr. FauX decided to pull on this 2012 hit.

Stream the FauXed ‘N Throwed take on Frank Ocean’s “Pyramids” below. Javis FauX’s Deal With It Vol. 2 is out now via Potholes Music.

This is dope. I was skeptical at first because those skips are disorienting. But he never goes too far with it
