The douchiest news item of the year so far was the hoopla surrounding Beyonce’s performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the inauguration. That award now goes to the apparent fight that occurred last night when Frank Ocean and Chris Brown crossed paths (yet again) in the parking lot of Westlake Studio in Los Angeles.
TMZ reports that Ocean and his crew weren’t letting Brown leave the location. And when the latter went to shake the former’s hand, a member of Ocean’s team hit (or tried to hit) Brown. This led to an altercation between the two camps, which got broken up by the police. I think.
You see, the information surrounding the whole thing is kind of blurry because TMZ says that Brown wasn’t there when the cops showed up. So, he bounced and his guys stayed to fight? OK, that makes sense. But here’s what Ocean had to say about what happened:
got jumped by chris and a couple guys. lol. i only wish everest was there.

I’m kind of partial to believing Ocean’s side of the story, if only because he doesn’t have a violent and erratic past like you-know-who. Also, he’s not an insufferable piece of shit, so there’s that, too.
Anyway, here’s what might be one of the best humble brags in recent memory.
cut my finger now I can’t play w two hands at the grammys.

Update: It appears the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department is investigating the matter. It was reported on Bossip that it would be pursued as a hate crime, but that is not true. It appears the ordeal is a misdemeanor battery case and that no arrests were made.
