Earlier this week we put you onto Domo Genesis’s bombed out album Rolling Papers, which, I have to say, I still haven’t stopped playing. Domo runs with Odd Future Wolf Gang (no Twilight!), a crew of restless teens from Los Angeles obsessed with druggy beats, agile rhymes, and illicit sex scenarios that usually involve Miley Cyrus. Where Domo’s the crew’s resident pothead, Earl Sweatshirt is its serial killer. In the vid for “Earl”, the gang drinks a concoction made of malt liquor, pills, weed, powder, and two different flavors of cough syrup, and things start getting weird. Don’t let the disturbing visuals distract you, though. Earl is a beast. I don’t know which is crazier: the concept for this video, Earl’s murderous subject matter, Tyler, the Creator’s corroded synth track, or the fact that this freaking 16-year-old kid would eat most of today’s millionaire MCs alive in a battle. It’s gonna be an odd future indeed.

Hit the skip for the insane visuals for “Earl”.

But hey, this shit is free, so why complain about getting something for nothing? We’re so spoiled these days. Anywho, here we have P.SO and 8thw1′s latest project, Suicide By Jellyfish, which finds the two AOK Collective members spitting over all types of production. They jack beats from Phantogram, Madlib, Blu Bad Brains, Chester French, and many others to create a new twist on these likely already heard songs. It makes for a slightly nostalgic and altogether solid listen that proves just how talented these damn AOK guys really are.

Stream “Vintage Clothes” below and grab the entire album after the jump.

After giving us the Grammy nominated Leave It All Behind the new song picks up right where they left off with the last album. “Maybe She’ll Dream Of Me” is a smooth and soulful track. Did I mention Phonte is rapping on this new joint? Nicolay adds some great production as does Zo! on the piano. Their new album Authenticity drops Oct. 12. Please. Just…relax. I know. Soulja Boy? On Potholes? Yeah, this shit is happening. The homie Lushlife shot me over a remix to one of the most absurdly insipid tracks of the past year. And yes, I was skeptical at first considering the original track in question. I mean, “Pretty Boy Swag”? Why, Lushlife, why?! But it turns out this joint is pretty goddamn fresh … OK, maybe not fresh, but still listenable and enjoyable when given a proper beat and music to accompany Soulja Boy’s idiotic “rapping.” I kind of wish Lushlife had rapped on here, instead, but hey, I dig this either way. Rant over. I need my coffee.

And, sure enough, my wish came true as the slightly abstract rapper and producer are bringing us Owl, their third album together, in two weeks. Here we have the first leak, “El Camino”, which floats gorgeously as you take a laid-back drive down nostalgia boulevard. It’s a great choice for a lead single, even if it’s a bit subdued, and hopefully (there I go, hoping again) will gain these two even more fans in the near future.

You can stream “El Camino” below and download the track after the jump.

I was originally drawn to this band not because of their awesome music, but because their name closely resembled the obscurely titled high school that I attended (Northern Highlands). After listening to their infectious single “Sugar Lips”, I have been craving more tunes from this five-piece group for the past few months. Luckily, with the approach of their next full-length LP, we get “Hiking”. Filled with more melodies and joy, North Highlands proves again that they are one of the many Brooklyn-based bands worth listening to. Check it out and share some thoughts.

His soulful crooning has graced more records than I can count with those two groups, particularly the latter as his vocals are a crucial element to the sounds of Connected and Leave It All Behind. But Darien Brockington isn’t just a guest singer. Dude’s been steadily building a nice solo career. And most recently, he dropped The Cold Case Files, an album that features the track featured here, “Rain”. We unfortunately don’t have the track available for streaming but what we do have the ridiculously sexy video. If you watch these visuals and hear the song and don’t feel some kind of way afterward, then you must either be celibate or inhuman. Or maybe you’re attracted to horses or some shit.

Hit the skip to check the visuals for “Rain”.

Not too long ago, Gonjasufi dropped a killer LP called A Sufi And A Killer. You may recall that much of the production on that project was done by one of my favorite producer/DJs, The Gaslamp Killer. While the two artists aren’t exactly ordinary, a sense of musical bliss is created when they come together on wax. “When I’m In Awe” is another fine example of that. Filled with eerie vocals and sample-heavy production, the single is a perfect teaser for what’s to come. And now you may be asking, what’s to come? Well, we now have word that The Gaslamp Killer will be dropping an EP on October 12 called Death Gate via Brainfeeder. This Gonjasufi collaboration will land on that EP, along with more exciting music from the bone-sawing rhythm destroyer. Check it out and share some thoughts!
