Listen: FC Music Group Reintroduces Itself With Gritty “No Love”

fc-no-loveFor those who haven’t been paying attention to the Charlotte, N.C. hip-hop scene, I’d like to introduce you to the FC Music Group. Yes, we’ve covered several members of the crew in the past—Lute, Jimmy Kelso, and SchylerChaise—but they’re here to reacquaint themselves with the world. They’re doing so with the goddamn great “No Love,” which features all six members doing their thing over a super-gritty beat by the Mighty DR.

I’m talking gritty like, Pete Rock-in-the-early-’90s gritty; that type of shit you’d blast out of a boombox only to have the tape destroyed because you rewound it too much and too often. I have to say, while I do wish that Lute got the chance to go in with a verse—he’s on hook duties with High I’m Ry—I’d be a fool to complain about this cut. It’s raw-as-hell boom-bap that deserves some serious play on these humid August afternoons in the South.
