Before Lil Wayne’s latest opus, Tha Carter IV, actually dropped this past Monday, it hit the web via the almost-always inevitable leak. And one track that instantly stood out was “It’s Good“, which featured what most speculate as Weezy firing shots directly at one half of the Throne, aka Jay-Z. A nice wrap-up of just what Weezy was talking about and responding to can be found at the home of our good pals at Rap Genius. But when the track leaked, I thought about (and discussed with fellow Potholesian Craig Jenkins) what would happen if Jay and Weezy actually, you know, battled. So I took to our Facebook page and asked y’all to some pretty hilarious results.
Hit the skip for the results.
And the winning opinion is…
WHO CARES!?
Thanks, Kanye. Your shrug at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards represents exactly how our fans felt. Who cares, indeed. Personally, I thought Jay-Z would get more votes — he ended up with less than one-fifth of the vote — but y’all really just don’t care about this one. Good call, everyone.
Let’s celebrate our collective apathy by listening to some Grillade. I’m shameless.
Grillade – “Dream of You (Emotionally Yours)” by PotholesInMyBlog

I missed the part where anyone with an ounce of intelligence even registers that lil Wayne has talent. Different ballpark entirely. Apples and Oranges.
Theres no comparison Jay-Z is a legendary lyricists with complex and skillful rhymes. Lil wayne is a new age rapper with soft metaphors. I agree with the Who Cares result. But Jay-Z should care because Lil Wayne used the word Bitch in referring to his future babies mother. Lets see if Jay-Z is afraid like 50 cent to go at lil wayne. because lil wayne dissed 50 back after 50 said somethings about him. but so far in hip hop everyone has been afraid to make a full record about lil wayne. maybe there afraid of losing money and the same fan base that they share.
they might be different but a beef can lead to a battle of sorts, ya know?
I missed the part where they even had a throne in the first place :S
IDE specify a bit more next time
A battle & beef on record are 2 dif things as I’m sure you know.
Either way, jay
But either way I’m not a fan of either artist.
It’s no fun anymore. Wayne can make wild claims like kidnapping jays chick but it’s nothing more than a hollow threat so what does it mean to us?we know nothings really gonna pop off.
Same with jay.
If it was between 2 lyrical cats than that could be fun to watch but it’s not.
Maybe the likes of a Sean p vs Raekwon or something, now that would make for a good showing. We’de get a lyrical back & forth while at the same time stay at the edge of our seats for the simple fact that something really could actually pop off between the 2 or their respective camp.
Just my thoughts on the matter
i love how most chatter is about how Jay-Z despises Lil Wayne. I honestly doubt it. All Jay’s ever said was that he’s not touching him as far as money goes. That was it. Didn’t say he was a better emcee, or any of that.
