This was another difficult question to pose to our Facebook fans, because let’s face it: there are a ton of great hip-hop duos. And, unfortunately, we couldn’t list them all in this week’s poll. I mean, think about it: EPMD, Method Man and Redman, Ghostface and Raekwon, Atmosphere, Snoop and Dre, Outkast, Gang Starr, Eric B & Rakim, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Reflection Eternal, Black Star, the Grouch and Eligh, Zion I…the list goes on. So yeah, we had to leave some acts off, but we’re confident that our readers chose who would have won no matter what.
Hit the skip to see who won.
AND THE WINNER IS…
OUTKAST
Y’all chose Outkast by a damn-near landslide. Andre 3000 and Big Boi captured 46 of the 102 votes placed by our readers, which is pretty impressive when you consider Gang Starr came in second with a mere 29 votes. I can’t argue with the collective decision, though, because who else deserves this title?
Now let’s all revisit the video for one of the best rap songs…EVER.

I named Atmosphere to make the list diverse.
Atmosphere? Really. Out of all the groups out there you name Atmosphere.
Yeah my vote goes to Gangstarr, followed by Snoop and Dre, followed by Outkast.
I think Outkast won by such a huge margin only for the fact that most young hip hop audiences dont know about Gangstarr and EPMD etc and that Southern Music is so in your face at the moment and Outkast is such a well respected group.
Mind you if this was for strictly hip hop heads who have been listening to hip hop for along while then Outkast would probably still win. but i think the margin definitely shows the times where in.
non group goes to snoop and dre. theres nothing better then hearing snoop and dre team up to make a record.
black star? dang the average fan is dumber than i thought.
That’s true and all but like, Madlib rapped on the Madvillain album as Lord Quas. And Pete Rock spit on some joints with CL. This poll wasn’t easy to make.
right choice to pick outkast but I think that there should we should destinguish between to Emcees and a emcee and a DJ. I feel like grouping them together is tough and we like them for different reasons. When I look at two emcee groups like outkast, I look how they rhyme with each other, back and forth. when i look at DJ and emcees, I look at how the emcee complements the DJ beats and vice versa. Plus a lot of groups with more than two members like de la soul only have two main guys and a hype man/in house dj. But beyond that here is my two lists. A) is for two emcees B) Emcee and DJ
