Facebook Poll Results #5: Favorite Oddisee Project From The Past Two Years

Brooklyn-by-way-of-Washington, D.C. rapper-producer Oddisee has become one of the more prolific hip-hop artists of our time over these past few years. Whether he’s working with yU and Uptown XO as Diamond District, producing the entirety of Trek Life’s Everything Changed Nothing, or churning out his Odd Seasons installments, Oddisee keeps his schedule jam-packed. He also maintains a very strong sense of consistency, which isn’t always easy when you’re constantly working. Yet, somehow, he’s never spread himself so thin that his music suffers. If anything, he has gotten better, which he will prove soon with the release of Rock Creek Park. The mostly instrumental effort — yU spits on the opening track and then it’s all about the music — hits iTunes next Tuesday while the physical copies drop Sept. 6. And from the sound of lead single The Carter Barron“, Oddisee’s got another strong album on his hands. So with all of this swirling in our brains, we had to ask on our Facebook page: Which Oddisee project from the past two years or so is your favorite?

And the winner is…

DIAMOND DISTRICT’S IN THE RUFF

Surprised? I’m not. I had a very strong feeling y’all would either go with this album or Odd Seasons, both of which are pretty much flawless in their own ways. But In The Ruff really is one of those quintessential records from the past few years that I have no problem dubbing a modern classic. From “Streets Won’t Let Me Chill” to “The Shining” to “Off The Late Night”, In The Ruff is an incredible, beautifully grimy piece of hip-hop.

Let’s all enjoy “Streets Won’t Let Me Chill” again by streaming it below.
