It feels like forever since Elzhi announced that he was releasing Elmatic, which is the Detroit rapper’s own take on Nas’s classic debut, Illmatic. But it’s finally coming on May 10 and we have our first taste of the project here with “Detroit State of Mind”, which features Elzhi flaunting his absurd flow over DJ Premier’s haunting beat for “N.Y. State of Mind“. If this doesn’t get you excited for Elmatic, I don’t know what will.
