Duncan Gerow is a guy from Alaska who specializes in mash-ups. If The Hood Internet is known for grabbing hip hop songs and throwing them over the backing track of the newest indie darling, Gerow is someone who will take the rap a capella and toss it over a track of an artist you may find on a site like Potholes. I went through his Soundcloud page the other day and some favorites were Jay-Z’s “Excuse Me Miss” over some Onra and his American Gangster standout “Ignorant Shit” over some Black Milk (which is a pairing I’m sure many would like to see happen). There’s also Lil’ Wayne sidekick era Curren$y over some Juj, but my favorite was this mashup of Clipse’s “Virginia” and Mono/Poly that makes it sound like a Hell Hath No Fury leftover. Dirty.
