The Flavr Blue is an electro/dance trio from Seattle. You may have seen Hollis, their lead singer, on Good Morning America a few weeks ago singing the hook on Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ new single, “White Walls”. I much prefer Hollis when she’s performing alongside her partners in Blue (vocalist Lace Cadence and producer Parker) and creating impeccable electro-pop like that found on the group’s new EP, Bright Vices.
This free five-track offering hangs easily with its closest counterparts: think AlunaGeorge, The Weeknd, maybe even a smidgen of Washed Out. “No Remedy” is a crafty love ballad and “Magnetic” encourages movement through its woozy, bending bassline. The Flavr Blue is impressive and accomplished; they’re only two albums deep but sound like they’ve been making music together for much longer.
