Ratatat – “Drugs” & “Bare Feast”

Ratatat1 Ratatat Drugs & Bare Feast

Ratatat’s upcoming album, LP4, is upon us. With such wonderful news, two of the tracks have been unveiled, “Drugs” and “Bare Feast”. While “Drugs” brings to you that signature Ratatat guitar riff, “Bare Feast” pushes the limits of the duo’s experimenting into other genres. After giving the entire album a few spins, all I can think about is catching these guys when they come around to perform, hopefully this summer. Give the tracks a spin and be sure to let us now what you think…

Drugs is a pretty nifty track — they weave the guitars between the beats as always. Classy Ratatat.
Bare Feast is one of the more interesting Ratatat songs i’ve heard. Really looking forward to the damn album dropping.

    Drugs is great!

  4. Warming up to Ratatat again after getting ridiculously sick of them a few years ago after seeing them in concert…but that wasn’t their fault, their fans just really got on my nerves.

Anyway, I checked out LP4 this morning and was def. feeling it.

I don’t like to be a hater… But honestly, I’m not sure why I’m supposed to think these guys are any good. Both of these joints could have been (easily) created using Garageband… There’s just no real creativity here. They sound like a contrived, amateur and much less talented version of Yeasayer… Without a doubt, the best thing that ever happened to these pre-packaged “hipsters” was Kid Cudi… Sorry… Just my 2 cents…

Well ‘Obama’ I’d probably have to say Ratatat have been around longer than yeasayer, and are definitely more experimental, seeing as they are instrumental and play with a lot more subtle emotional landscape, and venture into melody that is less often saved by a hook. Kid Cudi definitely earned some ‘hipster’ cred by going to ratatat, because he saw their talent and loved them in the first place. Ratatat has been ratatat for years, and have evolved accordingly, but what they have is all their own (not saying they don’t borrow or have infuences).
So I’d say, your 2 cents amount to insults about something you just don’t understand…
