Download: Pretty Lights – “I Can See It In Your Face” [mp3]
Look, I’m not much of a dancer. Unless I’ve had a shitload of alcohol and good (great, really) hip-hop is playing, I’m usually just talking nonsense at parties or bars. But there is just something about Pretty Lights’ music that makes me want to get all sweaty with a crowd of goofballs. It’s more than just the thumping beats and ridiculous bass. It’s his intricate blending of samples from every genre imaginable that really does it for me. And I’m not talking the kind of shit Girl Talk does, because, quite frankly, I can’t stand his stuff. This just resonates with me more than most dance-oriented music. Anyway, take a listen to “I Can See It In Your Face”, the first leak off Making Up A Changing Mind, which will be the first in a trio of EPs from Pretty Lights in 2010.

Interesting: the main riff on this joint is the same sample from Inspectah Deck’s “REC Room”. totally different results.
HA! I enjoy some girl talk and especially live but I like the point you make.
This song is pretty crazy. I’ve never heard anything like it. Genre defying really.
Love me some Pretty Lights!
These guys kill it live, just a great show. Love this leak, thanks dude, reminds me of some Ratatat.

Another great sound from Pretty Lights, I like the wamp at 2:35.
ILL RATED TRAK!
No need to talk shit about other artists to get your point across. It only brings your valid opinion down a notch when you need to make it seem better than what other people listen to. Its very possible to appreciate this and girl talk at the same time, i wish you would have left that out
[...] Post-amazing meal, I decided to look for a new song to become obsessed with…little did I know I was in for a huge treat! Upon checking hypem.com, a website I found out about recently but that has quickly become one of my top go-to music sites, I found Pretty Lights’ “I Can See It In Your Face.” This gem is one of those songs that you just hear and it automatically makes you want to party. The resonating bass line and synth are nothing less of addictive and I’m now listening to it for about the 10th time in a row. It will be officially released later this year on the EP Making Up A Changing Mind. Listen to it on youtube below or you can download it at ‘Potholes In My Blog.’ [...]

Girl Talk sucks balls. Excellent point.
I will never get tired of that riff. I like this! nice flowing beat, makes me think of summer evenings . Can not think of the original funk/r&b song at the moment.
Pretty Lights has blown up in the past year plus… Good for Derek his mixes are tight (even though he just pushes a lot of buttons at shows)
