Coming out of Minneapolis, Ackryte and WriteGroove have quite the standard to live up to. Being such a hotbed for underground hip-hop, the city has continuously bred off-kilter acts for several years now. An exciting new force out of the lovely midwest town is Ackryte and WriteGroove, who have formed to create their debut EP AckWrite. From the sounds of it, these two are drawing influence heavily on Blu and Exile’s highly acclaimed Below the Heavens. But I don’t want to draw too close of a comparison, because they are certainly cooking up a fresh sound of their own here on AckWrite.
