Cleveland’s AB is quietly releasing some of the finest R&B/soul these days, whether he’s getting his Stevie Wonder on with “Forecast” or covering his favorite songs of the past. Today, we find the silky voiced crooner doing the latter across Prologue Vol. II. The seven-track EP features completely revamped takes on classics like DeBarge’s “All This Love” (with a Phonte as a guest!) and Brandy’s “Almost Doesn’t Count”. AB’s not going it alone here, though he does hold it down on vocals and keys. Black Milk is on percussion and Nat Turner affiliate Malik Hunter handles the bass. With a lineup like that, it’s nearly impossible to go wrong.
