In a few days, it will be exactly one year since Dirty Projectors released their Domino debut, Bitte Orca. While the Brooklyn-based band has been around for some time now, they really hadn’t hit the spot for me until that release. I know it is saying a lot, but looking back on 2009, I can pretty confidently say that Bitte Orca was my favorite release. Their sound is truly unmatched and not of this world. With their infectious harmonic vocals, catchy melodies and wonky drum patterns, the album is flawless from front to back. Staying on that same path, Levi’s Pioneer Session has enlisted Dirty Projectors to cover a classic Bob Dylan song, “I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine”. I know we posted the She & Him cover song from the Levi’s series earlier this week, but if it continues to be as great as this, I don’t really have a choice but to keep posting. And this cover really is absolutely beautiful, I never thought another band would give Dylan a run for his money on his own song. Check it out and share some thoughts.

man, i typically don’t dig the indy shit, but damn if this aint thee shit! more than likely cause they coverin my boi Bob D, but either way im lovin it
This is goooood. What’s shocking to me is how straight of a read of the song this is. I expected some oddball Longstreth wizardry, but they just let it ride out on the vox and acoustic guitar. I likes.
