Yesterday was MLK Day, a time for Americans from many walks of life to revere a man who stood up against institutionalized oppression for the purpose of achieving equal rights for African-Americans and other disenfranchised groups.

In that stead, Louisville, KY rapper Devine Carama has released “Martin Didn’t Die For This”, a fairly straightforward criticism of the more vulgar and prominent stereotypes that have become entrenched in the fabric of American entertainment: twerking, excessive spending, strugglecore artist Future, etc. While we all have poked fun at and even enjoyed many of the things he bluntly denounces in the short clip, it’s not difficult to agree with these notions when placed on a backdrop constructed from audio clips of one of the more important days in our nation’s history.

Watch the visuals below. Carama’s upcoming project, The Dream Walker, is set to drop next month.
