Whenever someone remixes a track, particularly one so good on its own, I can’t help but inevitably ask: Did we really need a remix? I mean, really? In this case, the answer is overwhelmingly “yes!”, though I only felt that way after hearing Shigeto‘s take on Dennis Coffey and Mayer Hawthorne’s “All Your Goodies Are Gone“. The original — a soulful, guitar-led romp — doesn’t lose an ounce of soul in Shigeto’s remix. Hawthorne’s vocals have now become an accent and are no longer the driving force they once were, but his falsetto remains a crucial element to the smooth bounce of the remix.
