Deap Vally – “Baby I Call Hell” [Video]

I know the team here at Potholes skews towards rap and the various forms of EDM, but every now and then, like any American sweating through this oppressive summer heat, we need some rock to pound and claw through our playlist. Meet Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards, the duo who make up Deap Vally. Yes, you can insert your White Stripes and Black Keys comparisons here, but since one is defunct, and the other has stepped into pop-rock quite comfortably, let these ladies cook their gumbo. It doesn’t hurt they’re both as sexy as Deborah Harry in her prime either.

“Baby I Call Hell” sounds like pocket knife fights outside the bar, after shots of whiskey, and $2 pizza. The video is a simple Black and white shot of Lindsey’s sweet howling rasp channeling the gut-bucket blues as she shreds on her axe, while Julie beats on the drum kit.
