Deadmau5 Bashes David Guetta, The World Is A Better Place

deadmau5 mad Deadmau5 Bashes David Guetta, The World Is A Better PlaceI know: Deadmau5? David Guetta? Covered here on Potholes? Well yeah, because in case you don’t remember, we kind of really hate Guetta’s music and any chance to douse him in hater-ade is not going to be passed up. So it’s with that in mind that I just had to post what Deadmau5 said about Guetta in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. He also takes a minor dump on Skrillex, which is just fine with me. You can read that particular portion of the interview below and, you know, REJOICE! [via]

Zimmerman slams EDM stars who show up to a live gig and press play. “David Guetta has two iPods and a mixer and he just plays tracks – like, ‘Here’s one with Akon, check it out!’,” he says. “Even Skrillex [a friend of Zimmerman’s] isn’t doing anything too technical. He has a laptop and a MIDI recorder, and he’s just playing his shit … People are, thank God, smartening up about who does what – but there’s still button-pushers getting paid half a million. And not to say I’m not a button-pusher. I’m just pushing a lot more buttons.”

Update: You can now stream Deadmau5’s new EP, The Veldt, in its entirety at Rolling Stone, too.

i think it has to do with the principle of being a true performer which is considered to be the main virtues of being in artist. if an artist can’t perform it is mainly disrespecting him or herself as a serious musician. i would not take any artist seriously if they cannot play live. Especially if they choose not to.

The equivalent of a rapper basically standing still on stage and rapping over their tracks (not their instrumentals)…so frustrating

not that i don’t think guetta sux … but like who care’s about how technical a performer is?…if i was performing for a zillion mali’d out zombies i wouldnt go out of my way to create a classic display of turntablism when all the audience truly desires is a heavy drop every few moments….

Mau5 has it right, people need to know how simplistic most of these “midi-jocks” are. I was pissed when I found out how Bassnectar, Skrillx, and other big names actually play live.
