“Take Five” is probably the most popular jazz recording of all time, made famous by the one and only jazz pianist Dave Brubeck. It saddens me today to find out about his passing, as he was such an inspiring musician who was able to touch so many lives with his music-including my own. Everything from his work with Charlie Brown to his opus Time Out was a driving force in the development and rise in popularity of jazz music. His ability to mix his classical and symphonic and classical teachings into his progressive compositions is a truly unmatched accomplishment in the jazz community. He will be greatly missed.
One day short of his 92nd birthday, Brubeck passed away due to heart failure in Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, CT. [via]
