Dame Dash’s nephew Da$h made a very forgettable blip last year as his tape The Caveman Files was attached to the promotion end of the failed Spitta album Muscle Car Chronicles. It’s a year later and an A$AP affiliation has rejuvenated his light and sound. Here with P-N-C Retch, the duo find their lane with La Cienega and have a chemistry that mirrors the Thornton Brothers (aka Clipse), as in they almost-melt-into-one-rhyme entity.
Though not as skilled as the lauded coke bros, Da$h and Retch definitely ride the sound perfectly with varied flows and saying a good amount of slick shit. But the real star here is Mordecai Beats providing dank trunk rattlers that are equal parts ambient, languid funk, and digital-dust. Even if you are not of fan of youngin’s rappin’ about a fly life they may or may not live, these beats gunna have that neck snappin’ and them shoulders-n-elbows boppin’.
