When Danny Brown dropped The Hybrid earlier this year, I think I can safely assume I wasn’t the only one surprised that it was a free release. Well, as it always seems to go in hip-hop these days, the record wasn’t necessarily intended to come out that way. But due to confusion, delays, and perhaps even industry rule #4080, Brown was basically forced into dropping his fantastic 2010 album for free.
And now we can find out exactly why that happened along with insight from Brown on how and why each track from The Hybrid was recorded. Personally, I’m pretty damn glad he decided to do this as the album just seemed to drop and that was that, though of course there was plenty of positive press following its release. But even so, I always wanted to know more about The Hybrid.
If you’re like me and want to know more about one of 2010′s craziest albums, go to Danny Brown’s tumblr, where he breaks it all down. Hit the skip to download The Hybrid if you haven’t yet. You can stream “Re-Up” below.
