Daft Punk’s latest opus, Random Access Memories, might have just officially dropped, but the French producers/DJs already have some new plans for it. In an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong, they revealed that they are remixing tracks off the album, if not the entire thing, themselves. That’s right: Daft Punk remixing … Daft Punk. Up first is “Get Lucky” and it’s apparently due out in June.
Here’s how they described their plans:
“We’re working on some mixes ourselves. So, yes, there will probably be Daft Punk mixes of Daft Punk. Usually, we never mix ourselves, that’s something we feel we’re interested in doing this time.”
In related news, it’s being projected that Random Access Memories will do some solid numbers in its first week. Billboard puts the sales somewhere around 300,000, which will definitely be enough to put the robots at No. 1. Not bad considering their prior album, 2005’s Human After All, has only sold 125,000 units total in the States. [via]
