Cult Favorite – “The Transition” [Potholes Premiere]

cult-favorite-the-transitionIn our review of billy woods and Elucid‘s ill debut as Armand Hammer, writer Alex Letvinchuk noted that both rappers had already dropped some heat this year. That included their pre-album mixtape, Half Measures, in addition to side-projects like Elucid’s For Madmen Only album with producer A.M. Breakups. Together, they form Cult Favorite and they make some of the most snarling boom-bap you’d want to hear.

That’s evident on “The Transition”. On this non-album Potholes exclusive, Elucid sounds like he’s rapping while being thrown in different torture devices with a don’t-give-a-f_ck look on his face. You can also thank A.M. Breakups for that imagery, because his beat is both cold and futuristic—like a Terminator getting ready to rip apart the flesh of John Connor.

You can stream/download “The Transition” below. And if you’re digging this, you need to check out A.M. Breakups’ newly released instrumental EP, Pull Back.

“For MADMEN only” one of the best things to come out this last year. Glad folks are starting to give ELUCID the props he should be getting, but also seeing AM for the amazing producer he is!
