Cool Man is a Vancouver band that lists Oakland’s Souls of Mischief and Tina Fey as influences. Musically, however, they sound like a less distorted Crystal Castles that enjoys to rap. The duo is made up of Jonny and Tessa who both share vocal duties over songs with titles like “Carb Party” and “Get Dressed Up (To Not Go Out)”. Nintendo-esque sounds mix with tracks that are too fast to be rap beats and too dirty to be on a top-40 playlist and the whole package ends up being a nice alternative to the glossy electropop that so many aim to make.
