Folks, I bring you one of the best lyricists of the past decade. No, not Nas. No, not Jay-Z. Consequence, duh. According to, well, Consequence, he’s “one of the premiere songwriters in music over the last decade.” [via] After his beef with Kanye leading to his departure from G.O.O.D. music, he says he’s ghostwritten verses for Yeezy’s, “Paranoid”, “Robocop”, ”Amazing” and “Say You Will”. “Crying Broke” is actually pretty good, does it breathe ‘premiere songwriter’? No, but it’s pretty damn stylish. Featuring Rapper Big Pooh, of Little Brother fame, and Elzhi, it’s a track that’s sure to elicit discussion of whether they’re “Crying Broke” for a reason or if they’re about to skyrocket out of this recession. My vote: this track is nice, nothing broke about it.
