I thought the sound was fine, considering it was at the Ryan Center, which has shitty sound to begin with. I was off to the side, though, so maybe I didn't get the worst of it. The only slightly muffled part was Owen's solo, but I got the gist of it.

Also, I can't blame 'em for being late, shit happens.

But either way, I can see where you're coming from. I just disagree. :)

Marty,

They didn't get to do a proper sound check so the levels were way off, which made them sound horrible. I agree they brought the intensity once they got on stage, but the sound was too distorted for me and most people I was with to really enjoy it. It also wasn't as cool without the keys and additional horn section. The train is partially to blame for their tardiness, but they should take some of the heat as well. Prior planning prevents poor performance and if they were in anyway really serious about the show they would've taken an earlier train, or even a car/van... together! No wonder why they retired from touring. If you really wanna see a great Roots show, check them out during their weekly residency at the highline ballroom in NYC! I'm sure they won't be missing any members or arrive as late... Jimmy Fallon's studio is right up the street.
