Computer Dreams – Silk Road [EP]

We featured Computer Dreams’ self-titled album a while back here on Potholes, but for those that don’t recall, I’ll let a last.fm tag found on his artist page describe his sound: “lost miami vice theme music.” If these were songs left on the cutting room floor for the oft-syndicated Floridian cop show, they must have been considered for scenes where Crockett & Tubbs spot a potential love interest. It sounds like the type of R&B that Luther Vandross and Lionel Richie created under the influence of activator spray. There are Rhodes pianos that can probably create a Pavlovian placebo effect – producing the fragrance of new nylon and hairspray in your nostrils. The whole affair lasts a mere 13 minutes and the songs have no titles, so, we can make our own. I’ve decided to call “track 12” “Simpin’ On Syrup.” Give it your best shot.
