Do any of you still bump The Dreamer, The Believer? I didn’t think so. It wasn’t a bad album, though, it just didn’t resonate like prior Common works. With that said, I have been more entertained by his recent role in Hell On Wheels than any musical output of the past few years. Seriously, though, it is a great show. That doesn’t mean we can give up on the MC that created albums like Like Water For Chocolate, Be, and many more just yet. In fact, he has just announced he plans on releasing a new album in January of 2013 with production from No I.D. and possibly Kanye West.
Perhaps with a break in his acting career and some focus on his musical craft, we could have that true return to form we have been waiting for ever since we heard Universal Mind Control. Watch a recent interview below and read a statement from Common on his next album. [via]
“I am writing a new album. It will be coming out in January, and I’m looking forward to that. My stuff will come at the top of the year maybe some songs out there on the street level, I’m going to work with No I.D. and looking to hopefully work with Kanye [West] and that’s some of the major people I’ll be working with, and whatever other great talents that I feel are going that direction that I want the album to be.”
