From the house of Odd Future, MF DOOM and other oddball hip-hop acts emerges 15-year-old St. Louis native Chester Watson. Taking control of much of the production duties on this tape, Watson paints a darkened picture with haunting samples and stretched out loops. The lyricism isn’t quite there, but throughout this tape you will hear glimpses of the potential genius this kid possesses. Blog coverage is starting to slowly pick up for Watson, and we can only assume his Phantom debut is just the beginning of something much bigger. While undeniable after first listen, let’s hope the Earl Sweatshirt comparisons are kept to a minimum.
