One of the more exciting new voices in hip-hop belongs to Chester Watson, a young cat out of St. Louis who we named as an artist to watch for in 2013. In case you’re wondering why we did that, perhaps you should check out his latest release. “Kartoon Emperor” is a slightly trippy affair fueled by warbling, drunken synthesizers and Watson’s effortless stream-of-consciousness delivery. Hopefully this means the kid has a new EP, mixtape, album, whatever on the way, if only because we’ve kind of played Phantom to death.
