Chance The Rapper Charts With Free Mixtape

Chance the Rapper‘s Acid Rap was a free release a few months ago, and it didn’t seem like he ever had any intentions of putting it up for sale. Frequenters of iTunes and other music selling sites might have noticed that the mixtape was indeed for sale, though, which seems to have been a hoax all along.

That’s right, other people were actually bootlegging Chance’s highly acclaimed release without him even knowing. So much so that Acid Rap found its way onto the Heatseekers chart with 800 units sold, reaching the number 26 spot. Chance’s management denies being involved, insisting they never intended to sell the mixtape as it included several samples and guest appearances. The mixtape has since been taken down. [via]
