It appears that Chance The Rapper is finally ready to release a new full-length project. In an interview with Billboard, the Chicago rapper revealed that he’s actually got several projects in mind as part of a series with his live band, the Social Experiment. The first of them is called Surf and, like the others and last year’s Acid Rap, will be completely free. Surf also isn’t necessarily a “Chance The Rapper album” but more so a “Chance The Rapper and the Social Experiment album.”
He didn’t announce when Surf will be released or who we can expect to appear as a guest—well, other than Francis Starlite of Francis & The Lights—but Chance did say he and his band have been working with some big names. Like… Frank Ocean, Migos, Rick Rubin, and J. Cole. Not bad, eh? Chance also said that they have been drawing a lot of inspiration from The Lion King musical, especially in terms of fleshing out the band’s live show.
