We previously posted the first installment in late 2009. Treblefree and DVS Jackson are back with Volume Two: Calm Conversations. The songs on the EP represent a fresh, fun vibe missing from a lot of hip-hop today. The production is a definite highlight. Give it a spin and let us know what you think.
What’s up Potholes family! Let me start by thanking each and every one of you for making the first year of blogging as enjoyable and exciting as it has been. January marked the first anniversary of Potholes In My Blog (which I totally forgot about). If it wasn’t for you, the readers, we would have never made it this far!
In our never-ending quest to bring you the finest in hip-hop music, we have decided to pursue a few things that will greatly enhance everyone’s experience at Potholes In My Blog. We are currently looking to fully revamp our website layout, which will come with tons of fun and exciting features along with some truly sexy visuals. With the redesign, we also plan on bringing you tons of new content for your reading and listening pleasure.
Of course with any project like this, money is involved. I am not one to beg for dollars, but this is quite expensive! We do have some advertisement revenue coming in, but that hardly even covers the hefty hosting costs that come our way. With that said, we open the door to you, our loyal Potholers! I have included a link to donate to the Potholes Relief Fund, which will go entirely to the redesign of the website. Any leftover money will go back to the readers by way of giveaways, free downloadable projects, concert tickets and more!
We thank you greatly for your generosity. Every dollar counts!
Another leak off one of my favorite hip-hop groups upcoming LP, A Better Way. As we wait for that April release date, check out this silky smooth track featuring the soulful Jesse Boykins III on the hook. With such an excellent combination of raps, production and singing, Basic Vocab has continued to represent Miami hip-hop to the fullest. Give this joint a spin and let us know what you think…
Stormy represents a collaborative effort by two of Chicago’s finest, Pugs Atomz and Rashid Hadee. Both have made splashes already this year so it only makes sense that they would team up and tackle a project together. Hadee handles most of the production, except for a few guests like Fathom 9 and Tall Black Guy. And there aren’t a lot of guest MCs either — only one, actually, from Von Pea. Stormy is sponsored by and brought to you by the fine folks at Fake Shore Drive and DJBooth. Hit the jump for the rear artwork/track list.
We sure are getting spoiled with free albums today aren’t we… Zach hipped me to this free Ras Kass release, filled with new, old and unreleased freshness. The album art is kind of lame, but don’t let that fool you, there are definitely a few bangers on here. Give it a spin and share some thoughts…

Here is the premier for U-N-I’s “Pulp Fiction Part 1″, featuring Fashawn and produced by Ro. Blvd. This joint was one of my favorites of the past year, and you can find it on U-N-I & Ro. Blvd’s free LP, A Love Supreme.
Here is an extremely fresh album cut from PUTS’ upcoming LP, Carried Away, which will be available October 13th. Believe it or not, this highly esteemed group of hip-hoppers have been at it for quite some time now, as this is their seventh feature release. This track right here showcases some grass roots hip-hop, giving you groovy breaks, and raw rhyme spitting they have become known for. Check out the single and be sure to cop the album when it drops next week!
