Time Crisis – “Bricks”

time crisis Time Crisis Bricks

We brought you the first single, “Blue Lips”, from the Pennsylvania duo Time Crisis’ upcoming LP, and based on the comments, it seemed to receive a nice response. Well here we have the follow-up, the poignant and emotional “Bricks”. Featuring some fine electronic production and lyrics and vocals from partyboobytrap’s Virtue and Exquisite Corpse, “Bricks” is another unique take on the blending of alternative and hip-hop music.

Stream “Bricks” below and download it after the skip. And as usual, leave us your thoughts.

Big Boi – “Lookin 4 Ya” (Jedi Remix)

Big Boi Big Boi Lookin 4 Ya (Jedi Remix)We previously posted the unreleased track “Lookin For Ya” which Jive Records didn’t approve for Big Boi’s latest album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. On Baller’s Eve radio Big Boi recently premiered a new remix for “Lookin 4 Ya”. It features two new verses from both Big Boi and Andre 3000 (the original just had one each.) In most cases I’d be opposed to a remix with just new verses but its Outkast so we make exception because their track record speaks for itself. Please check out the new song and let us know what you think. [via]

Makeshift – “Turn It Up (Louder)”

makeshift Makeshift Turn It Up (Louder)Just a day after we got around to posting Makeshift’s latest project — the very good No Doze Vol. 2 mixtape — he has dropped off some visuals for standout “Turn It Up (Louder)”. Backed by a grimy, guitar-plucking production, the producer-rapper goes in for the better part of three minutes. And he’s complemented the cut with a straightforward, crisp video. No crazy special effects or typical rap video buffoonery here, just Makeshift spitting fire while walking the streets of a sparse neighborhood.

The Extremities – “Dial Tones” f. Ghettosocks, Lushlife & Ambition

The Extremities The Extremities Dial Tones f. Ghettosocks, Lushlife & AmbitionA month and a half ago, David Reyneke — aka the bastard who’s enjoying school in Australia — posted a joint from this production duo. “Lost Souls” was a bit of a jazzy, hip-hop revelation, a beacon of hope amidst an email inbox filled with nonsense. The only problem was that seemed to be the last we heard from them. Well, until now, at least, as I caught this new track from the Extremities over at UGS Mag. And after giving “Dial Tones” a few listens, I knew I had to share it with you all, especially considering the feature from PIMB-regular Lushlife. Ghettosocks and Ambition do their thing, too, of course. Anyway, enjoy and let us know your thoughts!

Ahu – “To: Love.”

ahu Ahu To: Love.Remember the first time you were listening to Flying Lotus’s Los Angeles and you got stuck on the track “Robertaflack”? Of course you do. You went back and had to listen a few more times, just to fully grasp the haunting beauty of what he and songstress “Dolly” put together. Well, here’s a surprise for you: That “Dolly” woman? Yeah, her name is actually Ahu. And she’s just put out a soaring lil’ single called “To: Love.” that features that same galactic gorgeousness heard on “Robertaflack”. You can thank Paul White for that as he returns the favor here for her appearing on his last album. The result is a jazzy, soulful, eccentric cut that is sure to make you fall in love with her all over again.

Stream “To: Love.” below and download it after the jump. If you want to support and hear the Dimlite remixes, cop them on her Bandcamp page.

Kno – “Rhythm of the Rain” f. Thee Tom Hardy & Tunji

kno Kno Rhythm of the Rain f. Thee Tom Hardy & TunjiOK, anyone wondering how Kno’s solo debut, Death Is Silent, would sound can find their answer here by way of the album’s first leak, “Rhythm of the Rain”. The track finds the CunninLynguists producer-rapper on his more serious tip, even if the above photo suggests otherwise — my bad, Kno, I just couldn’t find a better shot of you. But anyway, “Rhythm of the Rain” is very much steeped in the darker, bluesier sounds heard on Dirty Acres, a personal favorite of mine. It’s perfectly layered as the samples mesh and bleed into one another to create one hell of a production. And it doesn’t hurt that Thee Tom Hardy, Tunji, and Kno (in that order) deliver some fantastic verses. Great. Thanks a lot, guys. Now I’m just going to put this on repeat. Damn it.

Humpasaur Jones – “1999″ + “Bounce With It” f. Signifire

hump jones2 Humpasaur Jones 1999 + Bounce With It f. SignifireAs I have said before about Justin Boland and his team at World Around: I always know I can expect some innovative, well-crafted music featuring artists with awesome names whenever he sends over an e-mail. The latest tracks from Humpasaur Jones are no different. While “1999″ is a lyrical and emotional tour de force that requires a few listens to truly grasp, “Bounce With It” is a lighter joint featuring Jones tackling the jazzy beat with Signifire. Not sure which of these two tracks I’m digging more, mostly because I like ‘em both equally. But what are you thinking? Hmm, might go with “1999″ and its bars of self deprecation littered over a spacey, eerie beat.
