Download Mibbs and Scoop DeVille’s Heavy ‘FREEBASS’ EP

I’ve been kind of stuck on Pac Div’s Church League Champions since last week, when one third of the group, Mibbs, dropped his lead single with Scoop DeVille. But now I (and you!) have some new material to listen to from Mibbs and Scoop in the form of their joint EP, FREEBASS, which couldn’t have a more fitting name. Not only is it 100 percent free to download, but this thing hits hard with the bass. Scoop keeps it relatively minimalist throughout, working with synth-heavy loops and slapping 808s to complement Mibbs’ methodical, often-hilarious raps. I mean, what other rapper talks about going to a club to take a dump and then rejects his girl’s advances because her breath stinks?

Download Decade’s Moody New ‘Deck A’ EP

Decade is an incredibly promising new duo out of Toronto that get its name from the fact its members, Dumsaint and Knamelis, were born 10 years apart. Despite that age difference (18 and 28, respectively), they are clearly in-tune with one another musically. It doesn’t hurt that Dumsaint is talented in numerous aspects, whether he’s behind the murky production or angelic hook, while Knamelis spits compelling, heartfelt rhymes. While they tinker away at their full-length debut, Decade dropped a damn-good three-track EP, Deck A, with a pay-what-you-want price tag. Listen/download below.

Download Deniro Farrar’s New Album ‘The Patriarch II’

Yesterday, we aimed to hip y’all to Charlotte, N.C. rapper Deniro Farrar, who’s following has grown steadily thanks to his engaging live shows and true-to-life lyricism. We hinted that his new project, The Patriarch II, was dropping today and, sure enough, it has arrived right on time. Farrar delivers 13 new cuts on this immersive free album that features production from Ryan Hemsworth, KIRA, and the Kickdrums, among others, along with vocal guests like Child Actor and JMSN. Oh, and there’s a nuts Tetris theme interpolation on “The Night is Young”, which is handled by Ryan Alexy. I never imagined a rapper sounding so good over a 19th century Russian folk song, but damn.

Today we are excited to premiere the track listing to Steel Tipped Dove‘s forthcoming mixtape, Steel Tipped Dove & A Whole Bunch of Crazy Motherfuckers. The day is finally here, y’all, and of course I’m talking about the release of some of the most anticipated albums of the year. There’s J. Cole’s Born Sinner, Mac Miller’s Watching Movies With The Sound Off, and Kanye West’s Yeezus, among several others. And just in case you haven’t heard Yeezus in its entirety just yet, the whole thing is streaming right now on Spotify. I know it’s not as easy as other streams because you have to sign-up if you don’t have an account already. But, come on, just spend the few minutes to do that and you’re good to go forever. Can I have a check now, Spotify? LOL.

Premiere: Download The Rub’s New Self-Titled EP

The Rub is the renown duo DJ Ayers and DJ Eleven who today release their self-titled new EP. We’re proud to bring you the premiere of the diverse four-track project that truly has something for everyone. Dancehall lovers will be drawn to the Natalie Storm-assisted “Dutty Gyal”, what with its huge vocals and even bigger bass, while fans of moodier low-key electronic music will gravitate toward closer “At Night”. The two other cuts, the lounge-y “Feel You” and straight-up rap jam “Black & White”, tread somewhat closely to each other, though that’s only because of their shared soul influence.

This variety in sound might seem scatterbrained on paper, but it’s all handled and brought together seamlessly by the Rub. That should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the NYC parties of the same name that have gone on for more than 10 years. DJ Ayers and DJ Eleven know just what they’re doing here, so don’t be afraid to expand your sonic palate.

Freddie Gibbs Reveals ‘ESGN’ Release Date, Track Listing, and Artwork

Those of you waiting on Freddie Gibbs‘ next project have reason to celebrate. His latest effort, ESGN (or Evil Seeds Grow Naturally), has an official release date of July 9. It will be his first project since last year’s Baby Face Killa and since leaving Young Jeezy’s CTE imprint. In addition to announcing this news, the Gary, Ind. native revealed the track listing and guest features for ESGN. It’s not clear if it’s final, though, because apparently BJ The Chicago Kid is set to make an appearance.

Watch Kanye West’s Short Film For ‘Yeezus’

While everyone has been chattering about the leak of Yeezus, tomorrow marks its official release. With projections around the country of a short film promoting the album, the HD quality visuals have finally made their way to Kanye’s website. Featuring Scott Disick and Jonathan Cheban, the American Psycho-inspired clip showcases some hysterically mediocre acting over the “New Slaves” instrumental. Oh, and you’re definitely going to want to watch until the end.

Deltron 3030 Reveal ‘Event II’ Release Date, Announce New EP

For a while now, Deltron 3030‘s sophomore album, Event II, has been on the level of Dr. Dre’s Detox, because it seems like we’ve heard time and time again that it’s done with no actual music. That changed earlier this year with the release of a comeback single, “Pay the Price“, though they were relatively quiet aside from that and some tour dates.

And several few days ago, the group’s producer, Dan the Automator, confirmed that the record is set to drop Sept. 17. He verified the news after a fan asked if an Access Hip-Hop listing for a new Deltron EP was legit. He replied, “Absolutely!!!”, which gives some weight to the listing indicating that Event II is due out Sept. 17. Oh, and about that EP. It’s titled City Rising From The Ashes, features three tracks, and drops July 30.

Madlib Talks New Quasimoto, ‘Madvillainy 2,’ and Album With Mos Def

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Madlib let loose quite a bit of information regarding forthcoming projects he has been working on. While he recently released Yessir Whatever under the Quasimoto moniker, it appears that much more is planned for the near future. Including a new Quasimoto album, his collaborative album with Freddie Gibbs, and a new album he is working on with Mos Def inspired by Zambian rock from the 1970s.

On if he plans on releasing an album of new Quasimoto material:

Yes, but I still haven’t finished. It takes time. It has to be on a different level. The shrooms were the stuff that made me do Quasimoto in the first place. Hopefully, I get back on that level where I can finish it.

On a new Madvillainy album:

I handed all the beats to Doom years ago, but ever since he’s been in Europe, he’s been hard to get a hold of. I feel it probably won’t happen, but you never know. I can’t sit and wait on that. I did my part.

On MadGibbs, his collaborative album with Freddie Gibbs:

It’s done. It sounds good. Gibbs killed his parts. So did Earl Sweatshirt and Danny Brown on the guest verses.

On his collaborative album with Mos Def:

We’ve been working on it for a long time. I’ve got a lot of unreleased tracks with him, and when he comes to L.A., we link up. I showed him all the Zambian stuff from the group Witch that [Now-Again Records' Eothen "Egon" Alapatt] released on Now-Again. Mos loved it. I have another album, too, full of all Indian Bollywood sampling stuff that I did with Mos. We’ll hopefully put out an album of that later.
