Captain Planet – “Secret Recipe Revealed!” [Video] [Potholes Premiere]

LA has a ton of beatmakers, that is a fact. But how many of those beatmakers are actually making music worth listening to? Captain Planet, a producer who has been putting together projects since 2005, thinks he has what it takes. Promoting his debut LP, Cookin’ Gumbo, the dude with a name that pays tribute to a show that hits a nostalgic childhood nerve, lets loose a video for single “Secret Recipe Revealed!”. While this song also serves as an introduction for me to the music of Captain Planet, it is certainly a fond first impression. Dishing out some funky samples, Cookin’ Gumbo is looking like a pretty good sleeper pick as far as instrumental hip-hop goes. Cookin’ Gumbo is out now via Bastard Jazz Recordings.
